1995 TDOT Prime Contractor of the Year

95 Prime Contractor of the Year "Rogers Group has set the standard for prime contractors participating in the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise program; our only concern is . . . it's going to be hard for anyone to top this next year. But we hope everyone will try!"

This quote comes from The New Bridge, newsletter of the Tennessee Department of Transportation's Supportive Service program, in an article announcing that Rogers Group was recently named "Prime of the Year" by TDOT's Contract Compliance Office for its support of the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise program.

The DBE program promotes the involvement of minority and female owned subcontractors on DOT road construction projects.

"The DOT sets goal requirements on many job contracts, and Rogers Group exceeded the goal requirements on each of five goal project in fiscal year 1994 by using 21 DBE subcontractors," explains Monte Lester, Rogers Group DBE Liason Officer.

Rogers Group uses DBE subs on non-goal contracts, and aggresively solicits DBE firms when bidding work. In addition, Rogers Group Safety Manager, Ed Elliott, has conducted safety courses for representatives of Tennesee DBE firms. Rogers Group applies diligent attention to meeting EEO/AA requirements for employment and work conditions.

DOT Contract Compliance Director Alvin Pearson and Deputy Commissioner Carl Wood (now retired) presented the award.
