RGI Sponsors "Rock My World" Exhibit
for Tullahoma's Hands On Science Center

Rock My World Rogers Group values good relationships with our communities, and we work in particular to improve education in interesting ways. We were pleased to sponsor "Rock My World", a new exhibit at Tullahoma's Hands-On Science Center, to show young people what our products are and how they're made and used.

The display portion of our contribution shows where rock comes from and defines limestone. It also includes samples of different sizes of aggregates and describes how they are used. Some actual products containing stone are included -- and they surprise most people! A scale model of a quarry and crushing plant is also provided. (This display has since been put on the road to visit area schools.)

The "hands-on" portion of the exhibit consists of a crane enclosed in a case. The operator uses two joysticks to maneuver the crane and try to pick-up rocks or blocks.

The exhibit was unveiled in June to a crowd of about 75 children and their parents. Employees talked with kids about how stone is crushed and how roads are built. That same day, a display of paving equipment outside the Science Center gave kids an up-close look at how Rogers Group builds streets and roads.

The center serves a five-county area, and exhibits range from electricity and sound to animals and rocks. Most of the visitors are school students of field trips and families on weekends
