Rutherford County Quarry Hosts Cookout for Community

On Saturday, October 27, approximately 30 Rutherford County Quarry employees and their family members opened the quarry gates to members of the community for a cookout. About 80 people from the community accepted the invitation. Area Sales Manager Dale Cathey, who helped organize the event said, “The main goal of the day was to give our neighbors a chance to see our operation, including the equipment we use, the land we work on and most importantly, the people that manage it on a day-to-day basis.”

The weather was perfect as guests helped themselves to hamburgers, hot dogs and various sides. A pit loader and other pieces of equipment were on display, and a bus offered tours of the quarry. Children were totally entertained by the giant sand pile with big toy trucks and various craft stations where they could create jack-o’-lanterns, paint rocks or color trick-or-treat bags.

The “icing on the cake” for the event was several door prizes that were given out throughout the day.

Equipment was on display and employees were available to answer questions.

Most of the guests took advantage of the quarry tour. The observation deck made it convenient for them to get a good look.
