Rogers Group has been a CEO (Creating Educational Opportunities) partner with Bel Aire Elementary School for more than five years.
Rogers employees have made presentations in classrooms, assisted with class projects, and filled in as substitute grandpas for Grandparents' Day lunches. More hands-on participation includes reading to the kindergarten class and tutoring.
We have also furnished and planted trees for the schoolyard, provided pea gravel for the playground, and paved the basketball court to give the kids a safer surface to play on.
RGI treated all students to a Christmas Party on the last day of school before the winter break, including a Santa and gift-filled stockings. Employees, teachers and students built a float for the local Christmas parade. It was one of the largest ever entered in the parade, featured about 20 students, and won the 1st place prize!
Students and teachers got a real lift when Rogers Group brought a hot air balloon to school. Rides were given to students selected for their work skill qualities of honesty, integrity, and perseverance.
Fourth graders participated in a spelling bee conducted by RGI, and the top three spellers received prizes donated by the company.
Rogers donated two personal computers, plus ten copies of Windows software for the computer lab.
Rogers Group employees participated in Career Day, provided a display for Career Week, and gave 5th graders an introduction to the employment process through a mock-hiring process. At the end of the applications and interviewing, students toured the Hillsboro Quarry.
"This wonderful group of people has assisted with student elections, worked with students who needed a friend, and helped with our Spelling Bee," described Bel Aire principal James E. Waters. "We're indebted to these people for the many things they do for our school."
