Lawrenceburg Asphalt Donates Track to Adopted School

Lawrenceburg Asphalt Donates Track to Adopted School Eric Nutt was hoarse after a highway letting the night before, but was on the job bright and early the next morning with his crew to pave a $4,500 track for David Crockett Elementary School in Lawrenceburg. Crockett is one of Southern Middle Tennessee's adopted schools and a close neighbor to the Lawrenceburg quarry.

"We came out to prepare by grading and laying base stone about a month ago," Eric explained. They laid asphalt and smoothed out the 1/8 mile track in a few hours, allowing the school begin scheduling track meets. High school tracks are usually a quarter mile, but 1/8 is a better length for an elementary school.

The track is 12' wide around the loop and 20' wide at each end to accommodate basketball courts."We just finished a 40' x 40' basketball court for the school this morning," Eric continued.

"Anyone in the community can use this track and the basketball courts. We're glad to have been able to provide these resources."
