The construction industry employs more people in Tennessee than any other industry, yet it is facing critical shortfall in our work force unless we improve the image among young people.
That’s why the Tennessee Road Builders Association, Associated Builders and Contractors and other industry organizations sponsor Tennessee Construction Career Day every year. The goal: introduce high school students to the many rewarding careers available in the construction industry. It’s the perfect opportunity for companies such as ours to recruit the next generation of operators, drivers, managers, supervisors and other support personnel.
This year’s Tennessee Construction Career Day was held on Friday, April 4, at the Williamson County Agriculture Center in Franklin. The event showed attendees that the construction industry offers some of the highest entry-level wages and growth opportunities available. The program was open to students planning to enter the work force after high school and to those planning to attend college or vocational school first.
Each student had the opportunity to visit individual exhibit booths manned by representatives from a wide variety of construction companies, engineering firms, equipment suppliers, and associated support organizations.
Rogers Group was represented at the career day by Estimator Ricky Sanford, Sales Representative Benny Shepherd, Account Manager Michael Holt and Design Engineer Andy Leath.

Andy Leath and Benny Shepherd (hidden) offered students packets of information about Rogers Group. The packets included RGI pens and pads, and copies of the Conveyor.

The Rogers Group booth got plenty of attention from career day attendees.

Andy Leath and Benny Shepherd proudly display the RGI booth that included a 100-year flag.
