On Friday, July 18, eight members of the Rutherford Quarry crew logged 46 hours of community service by helping with a Habitat for Humanity House “mini blitz” for a particular project. The crew finished the tasks needed for the day plus several others for the next day to help keep the project on schedule. Part of the crew laid roof decking, tar paper and drip edge on the roof, while the other half installed exterior insulation and caulking. The crew also installed drywall nailers and helped with window installation. Rogers Group provided a barbecue lunch for all the workers.
In addition to the labor, Rogers Group donated the crushed stone required for this build.
In a note of thanks, Habitat for Humanity Representative Megan Hutchings said, “We greatly appreciate your hard work and commitment to making a difference in our community.”
Thanks to all who helped and to those at the quarry who wanted to go but had to stay back and keep the place running.
