Ronald McDonald House is “home away from home” for the families of critically ill children receiving treatment at the Nashville area hospitals. The children range in age from birth to 18 years old. The Nashville House is one of five in the state of Tennessee and has 32 bedrooms that are always full with many children on a waiting list.
A key role of the RMH is to keep the family together during an extremely stressful time.
Families need and look forward to a well-balanced meal after a long day at the hospital, and the Mid-Central Division employees provided this kind of a meal for the families on Tuesday, July 29. The families were extremely grateful for the meal of ham, turkey, fried chicken and all the fixings, including desserts home-made by Teresa Walker, Teresa Williams and Betty Arnold. RGI employees Judy Bowling, Cora Smith, Toby Ellis and Michael Holt served the meal.
“As we sat and talked with the families about their children’s conditions, it made us realize just how blessed we are to have healthy children and grandchildren,” said Judy Bowling.
It was a special treat for the RGI employees to watch families of seriously ill children come in and fill their plates with good food. It felt good to know they had done a little something to help lighten the families’ load for the day.
Through this event, Mid-Central Division employees logged 15 hours toward their goal of 100 hours of community service to commemorate 100 years of Rogers Group.
