Lainez Granted U.S. Citizenship

Oscar Lainez, Northern Middle Tennessee Construction Concrete Foreman, became a United States citizen on September 24. Oscar and forty-six other new citizens, representing twenty-nine countries, took the oath from U.S. District Judge Robert Echols during an impressive and moving ceremony at the Federal Courthouse in Nashville.

This is a significant step in Oscar's eventful life. Oscar was born on February 23, 1968 in Chalatenango, El Salvador, Central America. At the amazingly young age of 16, Oscar joined the State Police force in the Chalatenango district of El Salvador. He was promoted to Detective in criminal investigation at 19 and joined the drug task force at 25. Oscar was wounded three times in the line-of-duty. He immigrated to the U.S. in July 1996.

In August 1996, Oscar was hired by Rogers Group as a laborer on a concrete crew. Mentored by Connie Billings, Oscar has been steadily promoted to skilled laborer, concrete finisher, carpenter and to foreman on May 31, 2004.

Oscar and his wife Blanca live in Madison, TN with their four children.

Congratulations fellow American citizen, Oscar!
