On Tuesday, February 16 and Wednesday, February 17, Rogers
Group hosted over 100 children from East Middle School, Nashville, TN on our actual job
site on I-65 and Harding Place. The students and their teacher, Mr. Nelson Turner, are
studying road and bridge construction. Mr. Turner contacted Todd Nash, Project Manager
Trainee, about arranging the tour. Todd Nash, with the assistance of his co-workers, led the tour. The children were shown rebar, structural steel, and various pieces of equipment and phases of actual construction. The students have been busy roadbuilders in their own right! The children have had their own schedule to keep as they build their own road and bridge with legos, connects and other materials from their classroom. Each student has performs in a construction related job position. The class has their own project manager, accountant, foreman, equipment operator and various other construction-related job functions. Students have received whole language lessons about construction - even their spelling words have been construction related – for example: concrete, abutment, structural. We congratulate these future engineers and hope they enjoyed their visit to Rogers Group!
