 Mike Duncan, head track coach of Portland High School, Dale Cathey, estimator, and Julie Whittington, Community Relations Specialist at Rogers Group, led up a fund-raising effort for the Portland High School track team.
The Big Shoot Out, held in January 1999 at the Portland High School gymnasium during a home basketball game, earned the team over $5,000. Contestants shooting from mid-court could win $40,000 in cash and prizes. Half of the money would be donated to the school on behalf of the prizewinner, leaving the other half to be enjoyed by the lucky winner! Although some attempts came pretty close and everyone had a fun time, no one was the big winner. Rogers Group was the principal sponsor for the event and donated materials toward paving the track as well. |
