Breast cancer remains the most common form of cancer among women in the United States-more than 200,000 people will be diagnosed this year alone. Fortunately, we live in a time of hope. Research and new treatments have greatly increased most women's chances of survival. For too many, however, breast cancer is still a disfiguring and life-changing disease. Helping to keep hope alive was our McMinnville quarry. They sponsored Mrs. Jimmy Dishman and Paula Wright, breast cancer survivors, in the Walk For the Cure fundraiser. This year over $20,000 was raised with every penny being donated to the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville to be used in their breast cancer research program.
