Six years ago the Algood Quarry celebrated their first Annual Pig Roast. The Eastern Middle TN SBU worked together to make the event a success. This past weekend everyone gathered in Algood to continue the tradition. Customers, Community, and Employees were invited to attend. This year's event corresponded with the National Make A Difference Day. Different organizations within the community were invited to participate. Booths were setup by the local groups who do make a difference within our community. All guests had a chance to talk to the different organizations that participated, some of the different groups were MADD, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Pacesetters, and the local Volunteer Rescue Squad. Another part of the festivities was the Antique Tractors. Rogers Group has been in Algood for 30 years and thought it appropriate to celebrate with some machinery of the past. The antiques were a hit with everyone. Most favorite antique was the motor powered miniature rock crusher. Along with the exhibitors and antiques was a pie baking contests, pumpkin decorating contests, games for everyone and live music by the Hub City Bluegrass Band. Even though the temperature did not get out of the 50's there were still over 800 in attendance.  |
