The employees in our Eastern
Middle Tennessee locations have been very active with community service functions over the
past two months. Darlene Young, Sparta Quarry, was the chairman of the car show committee for the Liberty Square Celebration in Sparta. Rogers Group was the corporate sponsor of the event. The show featured 67 antique vehicles. Trophies were given for best of show. Thanks to Darlene for an excellent job! Jeff Price, loader operator at Sparta Quarry, participated at Career Day at Finley Elementary School. Over 800 students can to look at the loader. Jeff answered questions and told about his career at Rogers Group. |

Liberty Quarry donated $300 to purchase tee-shirts for our adopted school Dekalb West Elementary School. This annual fund raiser help supplement activities at the school. The employees at Sparta Quarry brought the bobcat over and helped the students and faculty at our adopted school BonDeCroft Elementary clean up the grounds and the nature trail. Rogers Group previously helped these students build the nature trail. Algood Quarry continues to take the teachers at our adopted school Algood to lunch on a monthly basis. The teachers really enjoy this treat, and enjoy talking with adults and not hurrying through their lunch for a change! The Eastern Middle Tennessee SBU has been supporting the "Character Counts" program. This is approved by Governor Sundquist for every school to start teaching "Character Counts". This program has been given to the Human Resource Agencies to implement across the state. There are 6 characteristics involved; Trustworthiness, Respect for Others, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship. This will be taught in every grade level! |
