Dear Wendy:
It is with a great deal of pleasure that I present to you the "President's Performance Award". You have done an outstanding job in our Tax Department at all times but it has been most evident to those in operations when you have been working on an acquisition, joint venture, asset swap or a State tax matter. In the past few years you have:
- Taken the lead and with the counsel of Lee Corbett turned back the State of Tennessee's efforts to collect sales tax on our new manufacturing equipment and rolling stock in the quarries.
- Worked with me, and others including the Kentucky Crushed Stone Association, to defeat the Kentucky Department of Revenue's efforts to collect tax on unmined mineral resources.
- Been very instrumental in working on the tax aspects, a key element, in the successful formation of the joint venture to form REOSTONE in conjunction with Mike McNally and Rich Warden.
- Worked with Mike Agee on the Lincoln County Rock acquisition playing a key role in the structure of the transaction.
- And most recently, you were a key advisor to Mike McNally and Christian Hanley in the Hanson asset swap.
Any of the above efforts on a stand-alone basis, would be worthy of consideration of this award. Mike McNally, Christian Hanley, and Mike Agee have joined Rich Warden in nominating you for this award. I whole-heartedly agree that you have earned this award and recognition.
Truly your efforts have created opportunities for many to succeed. Well done and thank you.
