This “Old Glory” is not like others. Indeed, it has flown over our nation’s Capitol building in Washington, D.C. and was available only by special request through a member of Congress. Joy Wilson, President and CEO of the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) requested a flag flown over the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., to be given to CEO Jerry Geraghty on behalf of all of Rogers Group. To obtain this special gift, Mrs. Wilson worked with United States Representative Lincoln Davis (Tennessee, District 4).
Rogers Group has a long history with NSSGA. RGI Board Chair Rick Rechter and RGI Board Member Emeritus Sam Rechter chaired predecessors of the organization, the National Limestone Institute and the National Stone Association (NSA) respectively. Former RGI CEO Frank Warren also served as NSA Chairman. Current CEO Jerry Geraghty is on deck to serve as NSSGA Chairman beginning next year.
Mrs. Wilson sent the flag along with a note that read:
On behalf of all the members of NSSGA, the association hopes this flag, flown over the U.S. Capitol in honor of Rogers Group Inc.’s centennial, is another reminder of your contributions to this nation.
The framed certificate reads:
"This is to certify that the accompanying flag was flown over the United States Capitol on February 27, 2008.
At the request of the Honorable Lincoln Davis, Member of Congress, this flag was flown for Jerry V. Geraghty, President and Chief Executive Officer, Rogers Group, Inc., to acknowledge Rogers Group, Inc.’s 100 years of service from 1908 to 2008."
The flag and certificate will soon be on display in the lobby of the RGI Metro Center offices in Nashville.
