Is this Heaven? No, it's Iowa. A place of fertile soil, traditional values and simple pleasure. And in Aurelia, Iowa, baseball still ranks as a favorite pastime for all ages, where reality mixes with fantasy and dreams can come true.
Rogers Group is one of the proud sponsors of the 10-year old all-star team, Smyrna Stallions. The Stallions, having won the Tennessee state championship, earned a berth to the Little League World Series for CABA (Continental Amateur Baseball Association) which begins this Thursday, July 29. One team from every state and Puerto Rico will participate.
"It was unbelievable coaching these boys," the team's head coach, Walter Burke said. "Every day they worked hard. They have a passion for the game of baseball. They love it."
Even though they're just little boys, these kids put on a show of skill and commitment in beating a tough team from Knoxville, TN 26-25 in nine innings to win the top spot to represent Tennessee in the series.
In addition to old-fashioned fun, the boys will participate in a town parade honoring the Little League teams and an old-fashioned town picnic and corn boil complete with county fair games and rides. Each team will bring a memento representing their state to exchange with the other teams.Get In the Mood To Cheer:
