About 60 volunteers participated in "Bowl In the Name of Love", a bowlathon held December 3 to raise funds for the Charles Davis Foundation in Nashville.
The Charles Davis Foundation (CDF) reaches out to children in Nashville's inner-city communities. The focus of all programs and activities is to have children realize that the power to change their community lies in them.
Charles Davis was raised in a poor Nashville neighborhood. He overcame disadvantages to become a successful high school, college and professional basketball player, then returned to Nashville to help kids in the same circumstances he grew up in. His foundation encourages Positive, Educational, Athletic, Cultural and Economic development through a variety of programs as well as counseling and mentoring.
The bowlathon was held at Melrose Lanes in Nashville during lunch hour. After a quick pizza lunch and a few warm up frames, volunteer bowlers (including Charles Davis) rolled for their best possible scores to raise funds from pledges solicited in advance. Children on a waiting list for CDF programs will have an opportunity to get involved because of this additional funding.
This event kicked off a new relationship between Rogers and the Charles Davis Foundation which is expected to bring many more opportunities for us to succeed together in helping Nashville's children.
RESULTS: Pledges are still being collected, but it looks like we will have raised over $5,000 for the Charles Davis Foundation!
