At Rogers Group's Western Kentucky SBU, all company vehicles are sporting new bumper stickers urging community residents to "Be An Angel". The bumper stickers are part of a campaign designed to increase public awareness about the need for organ donation and sign-up. Trust for Life is an organ and tissue donation program sponsored by the Circuit Clerks Association of Kentucky.
Brad Morse, Superintendent at Hopkinsville Aggregate, along with Hopkinsville officials Mayor Rich Liebe, Police Chief Kenny Over and City Public Works Director Rick Deason along with Betty Ligenfelter, wife of retired police chief J.D. Ligenfelter and a transplant recipient herself attended the kick-off event. All city and county work vehicles will sport the "Be An Angel" stickers.
According to official reports, Christian County has one of the lowest donation sign-up rates in the state. Organizers at Trust for Life are hoping to improve those figures with "Donation Dots" - dime sized fluorescent stickers for those who were undecided on the donor issue at the time they received their driver's license. The dots serve the same purpose as a signature on the back of a driver's license, indicating the individual's consent to harvest their organs in the event of their death.
