Don Williamson, Chairman of the Kentucky Crushed Stone Association and Rogers Group CEO, took part in the dedication of a 17 ton limestone ball and glove as it was presented to the Louisville Slugger Museum on Tuesday, July 21, 1998.
Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson, KCSA President Don Walker, and other KCSA members also attended the dedication. The enormous ball and glove were created by Louisville sculptors Al Nelson and Kimberly Hillerich.
The sculpture, titled "Let's Play Ball", will help promote the awareness and image of our industry in the community. The Louisville Slugger Museum has attracted more than 400,000 visitors from around the world after opening in July 1996. The museum is located at 800 West Main Street, Louisville, KY. Operating hours are Monday through Saturday, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Tours of the museum and bat manufacturing plant begin every 20 minutes and last approximately 90 minutes.
