For more than 18 years, Rogers Group has been a friend the Crusade for Children could count on.
With our participation in the 49th WHAS Crusade for Children, we extend a hand of friendship through financial support, volunteerism and community involvement. It's our goal to help hundreds of children and families in our community, and make many new friends along the way.
This year, Rogers contributed $64,700 to the charity and many Rogers employees donated separately to the crusade in memory of Martha Nord. Martha was the mother of Debbie Abariantos, Nashville, and the wife of former RGI employee, Bill Nord. People throughout the community donated almost $80,000 in Martha's memory. Last year Rogers' contributed $61,000 and in 2000, $55,700 to the crusade.
The hard work of the Louisville area locations makes RGI's donation possible. Each year employees sponsor a Golf Scramble with all of the money raised from the tournament going directly to the charity. Britt Rhodes, Sales Representative, and Bill Nord, former RGI employee, serve as coordinators for the events. Maplehurst Golf Course has graciously donated the use of its facility for this worthy event since the inception of the golf scramble.
The WHAS Crusade for Children provides services to children for all 120 counties in Kentucky and 59 counties in Southern Indiana. 100% of all donations fund hospitals, schools, and other agencies that provide services to children with physical and mental handicaps or other severe health problems. The crusade is the most successful local telethon in the country. Over the years, over 95 million dollars have been raised through the efforts of local citizens who literally hold thousands of events ranging from chili cook-offs and bake sales to tool and house auctions to raise money.
The 49th annual WHAS Crusade for Children raised a record $6.23 million.
