Oldham County Stone Responds to Weather-torn Community
As the remnants of Hurricane Ike tore through America’s mid-section, Central Kentucky’s Oldham County Stone, like all Rogers locations in the SMA, was in an area hard hit by the storm’s winds.

Although the quarry suffered some damage from the winds and was without power until yesterday (9/18), employees saw an opportunity to help the community and jumped at it. The Brownsboro Community Center, across the street from the quarry, had so many trees down that the center had to close its doors until the premises were cleaned up. Ten employees spent an afternoon cleaning up the grounds of the community center, making sure it was safe to open to the public.

Each of these employees volunteered five hours for the cleanup, totaling 50 hours of community service: Patrick McHale, Bobby Harmon, Vernon Williams, Tim Sullivan, Todd Williams, James Whitworth, Mike Jennings, Mike Noonan, Chris Edwards, Glen Brierly.
