A one-day visit by Newton County’s Susan Daniel wasn’t enough for Mrs. Skinner’s kindergarten class at South Newton Elementary in Kentland, Indiana. To get the most of their experience, Susan visited the class three times over three weeks. The first two visits were packed with simple lessons and activities such as finding all of the sunflower seeds in a bowl of birdseed.
On Susan’s third visit, she took the class back to Newton County Stone so the children could see the real mining process with their own eyes. Despite the cold, rainy weather, the students were excited and asked lots of questions.
