Rogers Group, the Illinois Aggregates Producers, the Illinois Partners in Education in co-operation with other industry companies recently sponsored a seminar for teachers.
The seminar is designed to increase the teacher's knowledge of the important role our products play in society, and to allow them to gain first-hand knowledge of how a quarry operates. The teachers were provided with numerous materials for their classrooms. Several hands-on exercises were conducted such as birdseed mining and a toothpaste-based activity. Tours of a silica sand and stone quarry were available. All teachers participated in a quarry blasting shot during the tour.
Rogers Group sponsored several of our local community teachers at the weekend seminar.
