Auction Benefits Newton County 4-H'ers

Livestock raised by local 4-H'ers were auctioned to the highest bidders at the county fair, after exhibitors showed off their prize livestock in head-to-head competition.

The auction helps the 4-H'er recoup the cost of raising the livestock plus earn a little extra for their bank account. Newton County Stone participates in the annual event as a buyer.

Livestock purchased at the event is served at the quarry's annual customer and trucker appreciation day BBQ.

Newton County Stone employees and their families are active in the 4-H club:

Damon Ward earned Res. Champion Market litter in swine, Grand Champion in ceramics, and Grand Champion in shooting sports. Damon is the son of Susan Ward.

Megan Jordan earned Grand Champion in bicycling. Megan went on to the state fair placing 4th out of 38 contestants. Megan is the daughter of Rodney Jordan.

Kendra Vanderwall earned a blue star in cake decorating and photography. Kendra is the daughter of Jan Vanderwall.
