The Little 500 is the biggest intramural event on the Indiana University campus and the largest collegiate bike race in the United States. Riders compete in four-person teams in separate races for men and women around a quarter-mile track.
More than 20,000 people attend the races every year, with the proceeds used for working student scholarships at IU. The 2007 races allowed the Student Foundation to give away more than $35,000 in scholarships.
The first race was in 1950, and Rogers Group has sponsored teams since 1953. This year, RGI’s Central Indiana SMA sponsored the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority team, which qualified 7th and finished 10th in the women’s race, and Dodd's House team, which qualified 16th and finished 4th in the men’s race.
By working with these tams at the event, CIN logged over 10 hours toward their goal of 100 hours of community service this year.
