RGI’s Board of Directors visited SETN’s Rutherford County Quarry on September 26 to find an impressive operation, skilled employees, competent leadership...and lunch.

Before the tour, the Board viewed a presentation from SETN VP David Denton summarizing the market situation in southeastern Tennessee and the strategy to grow the business in the area that is experiencing some of the highest growth rates in the state. Next, Quarry Superintendent Brian Dillard talked about the phases of improvement the plant has gone through and is planning over the next few years. Many of the improvements are the direct result of Six Sigma projects and have improved productivity and lowered costs.

After a brief but thorough question and answer session, the Board began their tour. They were able to witness the whole process, from the bottom of the pit to the primary crusher to the stockpiles to the truck scales. All along the way, employees explained the processes and answered any questions.

As attendees finished their tour, they joined the quarry employees for lunch.
